In recognition of Black History Month 2021, I was interviewed by fellow professional genealogist and podcaster extraordinaire Denys Allen. Denys reached out to me last year and we agreed to the interview which was held before the 2020 year-end holidays as you will hear. Denys' PA Ancestors podcast can be found on her blog, and you can also watch on YouTube, or listen on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify and Stitcher. The topic of the interview was Researching African Americans in Pennsylvania, but as you will hear, we covered the basics of African American Genealogy, and also touched on some of the records sources and considerations of interest the African American in Pennsylvania in particular. Denys is an easy to talk to interviewer, and I encourage you to listen to her other podcasts if you are interested in researching ancestors in Pennsylvania. If you have any questions about anything I said during the interview, please reach out to me at dean@familypearl.com, or at 484-318-8756. A list of all of my speaking engagements can also be found here.
